How To Measure Glasses Frame Size

Finding the right frame size is a super important part of buying eyewear online. But did you know it’s also super simple? We created a helpful guide to make the process quick and easy. Here’s what you need to know when looking for your eyeglasses and sunglasses frame measurements.

Eyeglasses Frame Measurements

Frame Width

measures the entire horizontal front of the frame, from the furthest extended point on either side.

Temple Length

Temple Length is the length of the temple to its temple tip, including the bend that sits on your ear.

Lens Width

Lens Width is the horizontal width of each lens at its widest point

Lens Height is the vertical distance of the lens at its tallest point. If you want to order progressive, the lens height of the frame should be at least 33mm.

Bridge Width

Bridge Width is the shortest distance between your two lenses.

Reading Your Frame Size

Your glasses may have numbers, which indicate three frame dimensions, printed on the inside of the temple arm.

EXAMPLE

If the numbers are 55-17-140, From left to right, your frame dimensions are:
55 mm lens width
17 mm bridge width
140 mm temple arm length

The most important dimension— the frame width—will not be printed on the temple arm.
The frame width is the most important reference size, you can buy your glasses according to the frame width.
